Kohn Partnership Architects Inc. is a dynamic architectural firm located in downtown Toronto, known for its established expertise in retail/commercial and residential development. We are continuing to expand to meet the growing needs of our current workload, which includes residential and commercial projects in all phases of development, and of varying in scale up to 1,000,000 sf. CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES:
Senior & Intermediate Architectural Technologists:

You have graduated from an accredited university program or recognized Architectural Technologist Program, and have a minimum of 3-5 years (Intermediate) or 5-10 years (Senior) of demonstrable, progressively responsible post-graduate experience in an architectural office.

You possess a working knowledge of various building types, including multi-storey residential housing and commercial/retail projects, and have developed a proficiency in best practice building science criteria utilizing a variety of building materials and systems, including concrete, steel, and wood frame construction.

You possess excellent technical, project management and organizational skills; you also possess a thorough knowledge of the latest version of Revit; English language skills, and a fluent understanding of the Ontario Building Code are essential. Knowledge of Newforma project management software would be an asset, as is a valid Ontario Drivers’ License.

You are motivated, multi-tasking, and will be working under the direction of senior staff as part of a project team, but with minimal supervision.
Your responsibilities will include the preparation of technical contract documents for permit, tender and construction, coordination with consultants and governing authorities, liaison directly with trades and suppliers, the review and coordination of shop drawings, and making application for, monitoring progress of, and obtaining building permits. In addition, you will be expected to interact with design teams to evolve design concepts into quality construction details, and occasionally be involved in design and presentation initiatives; other responsibilities may be assigned.

Construction Contract Administrator:

You have graduated from an accredited university program or recognized Architectural Technologist Program, and have a minimum of 5 years of demonstrable, progressively responsible post-graduate experience in an architectural office, including a minimum of 2 years’ specific experience administering construction contracts and performing field review services for buildings ranging in value from $1.0m to $30.0m.

You possess a working knowledge of various building types, including multi-storey residential housing and commercial/retail projects, and have developed a proficiency in best practice building science criteria utilizing a variety of building materials and systems including concrete, steel, and wood frame construction.

You possess excellent technical, project management and organizational skills; you also possess a thorough knowledge of the latest version of Revit;

English language skills, a fluent understanding of the Ontario Building Code, and a valid Ontario Drivers’ License are essential. Knowledge of Newforma project management software would be an asset.

Your responsibilities will include the independent management of Construction Contract administration documentation (Change Notices, Change Orders, Site Instructions, Certificates of Payment, etc.). You will be expected to manage the review of shop drawings and other contract submittals, perform Periodic Field Review and prepare construction Site Visit Reports, work directly with individual Project Architects and the Partners to ensure changes to the work maintain the overall project design intent, and to utilize your strong working knowledge of current construction industry costs to review and assess Contractor Change Quotations.
