Situated on a tight urban site in Toronto’s west end, Robert Watson Lofts is a foray into the world of adaptive re-use, converting what was once an industrial-era candy factory into 153 stylized live/work lofts. The concrete-framed and masonry-clad addition engages harmoniously with the existing heavy-timber structure, highlighting old and new through a thoughtful architectural response to context and history.  This project received Honourable Mentions for the 2011 Toronto Urban Design Awards and the 2011 Heritage Toronto Awards.
